Vest and Jackets

ENG: And here's what we'll look like in Nepal. The team would scare the hell out of the Yeti himself! The most important being that our Patagonia jackets and downs are warm, confortable and visible.

FRA: Et voilà enfin de quoi nous aurons l'air au Népal. L'équipe ferait peur au Yéti lui-même! L'essentiel est que Patagonia fait du chaud, du confortable et du visible.

Sherpa Trek test

ENG: Some gear testing this weekend. We went testing the sherpa-trek and for sure people were curious. We also received our Wilsa sleeping bags. And currently I don't want to show photos of us inside as I can't bear staying in it more than 30 seconds as it's really warm. The Sherpa-trek works well, pushing or pulling it. We also started some training I personally need to get quickly into shape so I passed 2 long hours running pulled by my roommate's Jack Russell and then carrying treelogs to strengthen my upper body.

FRA: On a testé le matériel ce weekend. Les passants étaient curieux en voyant le sherpa-trek. Nous avons nos duvets Wilsa mais pas de photo pour l'instant car franchement je ne tiens pas plus de 30 secondes dedans car la chaleur qu'il procure est intense. Le Sherpa-trek fonctionne aussi bien en poussant qu'en tirant. Nous avons commencé l'entraînement. Personnellement, j'ai vraiment besoin d'une remise en forme alors j'ai commencé durement par 2 longues heures de course tiré par le Jack Russell de ma colocataire puis à faire des exercices avec un tronc d'arbre pour fortifier mon dos.

Wechsel Tents

ENG: This small tent-engineering company has accepted to provide us with their ZERO-G line tents. We all know that German means quality and these tents are not only good looking but also very strong, lightweight and well thought. More about the tents later on.

FRA: Cette petite entreprise est spécialisée dans la création de tentes. Ils ont accepté de nous fournir en tentes de leur gamme ZERO-G. Des produits beaux, pratiques, résistants et légers. On reconnaît bien là le savoir-faire allemand. On vous décrira ces tentes plus tard.

Wilsa Sport Outdoor Equipment

ENG: Wilsa is a French manufacturer of quality outdoor equipment. They'll supply us with their wonderful sleeping bags, that are thermic resistant to extremely cold temperatures and ripstop to be also protected and last long. Its 90% quality goose down makes it very efficient in terms of compressibility and with a small volume in the backpack. My friend Guy Dubart succeeded his Aconcagua summit last month and he had one of these warm cocoons.

FRA: Wilsa est un fabricant de matériel d'aventure de qualité. Ils ont accepté de nous fournir en sacs de couchage. Leur duvet est capable de résister aux températures de froids extrêmes et d'être ripstop pour leur protection et durabilité. Contenant 90% de plumettes d'oies de haute qualité, ces sacs sont très compressibles et d'un poids et volume réduits dans le sac. Mon ami Guy Dubart qui a réussi le sommet de l'Aconcagua il y a un mois en avait un et c'est vrai que j'avais apprécié la qualité en voyant ce sac.

Team Spirit

ENG: We are always excited to receive new equipment and to test it during a team event. Today we tested our JULBO glasses. They're sexy, we look good with it, and more important they'll protect our eyes ! We got the JULBO explorer Cameleon model, whick is really cool, lightweight and fits our different faces. We also have a wrap-around model where we can use our normal glasses inside of it. And we really love our JULBO beanie, it's polyprop and thus warm. Neat ! Ok we know, we don't look serious but after almost 3 months of working until 1 am every day, it was good fun.

FRA: On est toujours content de recevoir de l'équipement et de le tester lors d'un exercice de cohésion de groupe. On a testé nos super lunettes JULBO explorer Cameleon. Elles nous vont bien, elles sont belles et super pratiques, et puis surtout elles nous protègeront du soleil. Léger et adaptable très facilement à nos visages. On a un aussi un masque qui se porte au dessus de nos lunettes de vue. Et on adore nos bonnets JULBO, en polaire donc très chaud. Top ! Bon, on sait qu'on a pas l'air sérieux, mais après quasi 3 mois de travail jusque 1h du matin, ça fait du bien se se lacher un peu.

ENG: Julbo is a French independent family-run firm exporting in 55 countries. They are expert in protecting eyes against the sun in high-exposure locations and aims to become a global partner to opticians and to set standards in sunglasses and prescription eyewear. And my eyes are very important. I became snowblind once and since I lost part of my sight and I'm very sensitive to light. Protect you eyes and use brands that have wonderful products. That's what we need on the Everest !

FRA: Julbo est une fabuleuse entreprise familiale qui exporte dans plus de 55 pays. Ce sont les experts en lunettes de protection contre une grande exposition au soleil. Ils veulent que cela devienne un standard auprès des opticiens dans la prescription de lunettes de protection. Mes yeux sont importants. J'ai été aveugle une journée complète brûlé par le soleil en 2004 et mis à part la douleur intense j'en garde aujourd'hui une sensibilité à la lumière et une détérioration de ma vue. Patagonia

ENG: Patagonia, the famous outdoor equipment and clothing brand has granted Louis-Philippe Loncke and the Chocolate Sherpa expedition the title of "Pro-Expe Patagonia". It is very rewarding to be considered serious by that company that is really choosing people with ethical and ecological values. The team will of course carry all its trash during the expedition and will try to remove trash from the base camp as well. Patagonia donates every year 1% of its sales to sustainable projects around the world. The company also recycles its clothes for free to reduce carbon emissions.

Nous sommes reconnaissants d’être considérés comme des professionnels par une entreprise qui choisi avec soin des personnes avec des valeurs éthiques et écologiques. L’équipe emportera, bien sûr, tous ses déchets pendant l’expédition et tentera également d’en ramener du camp de base. Sherpa-Trek for Chocolate Sherpa

ENG: Sherpa-Trek, has joined us and provided 3 "Sherpa Treks", this strange cart to help the team to carry the Chocolate up to the EBC. He was the first sponsor to be confident in our crazy project and we warmly thank him! The main advantage of this cart will be the possibility to cross long distances with the chocolate with little effort. The Sherpa-Trek has been tested around the Annapurnas recently...let's see the EBC now !

FRA: Sherpa Trek nous a rejoint et nous fournit 3 "Sherpa Trek", une drôle de "brouette de montagne" pour aider l'équipe à porter le chocolat au camp de base de l'Everest.

Salon du Chocolat

ENG: N. and I went to a chocolate fair in Lille (France), where we tasted some really good stuff, from hot chocolate to chocolate with beer flavour! We also have some good news as we have already a few sponsors. Once completely official, we'll write more about it. We distributed some 200 flyers about the expedition and met the Rotary of Lille organizing the event. They'll try to help to make the project known. The 2 page project description in PDF we make is now translated in several languages: French, Dutch, English, Swedish, Italian, Spanish, Russian and soon in German, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, Polish, Lituanian, Portugese et Indien. FRA: N. et moi avons testé de bonnes choses au salon du chocolat à Lille; du chocolat chaud à la pralines au chocolat-bière! Nous avons aussi de bonnes nouvelles concernant des sponsors mais pour l'instant on attend que ce soit officiel. On a distribué 200 tractes parlant de l'expédition et nous avons rencontré le Rotary qui organisait le salon. Ils vont certainement nous aider à faire connaître le projet. Les 2 pages descriptives du projet en PDF sont traduites en plusieurs langues: Français, Néerlandais, Anglais, Suédois, Italien, Espagnol, Russe et bientôt en Allemand, Turque, Chinois, Japonais, Polonais, Lithuanien, Portugais et Indien.
